A server of your own
A from-scratch reconstruction of the game's backend: logins, profiles, inventory, missions, rewards, lobbies and the multiplayer relay. Packaged with Docker for any Linux machine.
Open-source Helldivers 2 server

Liberated rebuilds the Helldivers 2 server from the ground up. Spin up a private galaxy for your squad, write your own Galactic War — fronts, planets, Major Orders and dispatches from Super Earth — and fight it together.
Every player needs their own copy of Helldivers 2 on Steam. We don't condone piracy.
Mission briefing
Helldivers II: Liberated is a reimplementation of the Helldivers 2 server, built so communities can run their own. Play on a private server with friends, shape the theatre of war, and tell the story you want to tell, one planet at a time.
A from-scratch reconstruction of the game's backend: logins, profiles, inventory, missions, rewards, lobbies and the multiplayer relay. Packaged with Docker for any Linux machine.
A persistent galaxy that keeps going between sessions. Start liberation campaigns, trigger defences, issue Major Orders and broadcast dispatches your squad sees in-game.
A small Windows launcher with two buttons: Play private and Play official. Steam and anti-cheat start as usual, and your game files are never touched.
Invite-only, Steam-linked accounts. Owners and Game Masters run the war from a web console, and every change they make is reviewed before it applies and logged afterwards.
The War control centre
Every Liberated server ships with a web console for running the Galactic War. Decide which worlds fall, which fronts open and what Super Earth tells its soldiers. These are real screenshots from a demo server.
Change who holds a planet, its health and regeneration. Open liberation campaigns or launch timed enemy offensives your squad must defend.
Up to eight objectives: liberate, hold, defend, kill counts, samples, extractions, with outcomes that change the map.
News and incoming messages from Super Earth that show up in-game on the galaxy map, now or on a schedule.
Every successful mission pushes liberation and defence forward. The story is decided by how well you fight.
Owners and Game Masters preview every change before confirming it, and the Chronicle records all of it.
Deployment sequence
Run the Docker stack on your own Linux machine, or, as a Patreon supporter, have it deployed for you automatically. You get an HTTPS address, the multiplayer relay and your War control centre.

Everyone installs the Liberated launcher on Windows and adds your server's address. Each player signs in with their own Steam account. No passwords to share.
invite-only · Steam-linked
Press Play private and Helldivers 2 starts from Steam as usual, connected to your galaxy. When you're done, Play official takes you back to the public war.

No. Liberated is an independent, community-built reimplementation. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Arrowhead Game Studios or Sony Interactive Entertainment. Every player needs their own copy of Helldivers 2 on Steam.
Yes. Liberated replaces the server, not the game: every player must own Helldivers 2 on Steam and launches it through Steam as usual. We don't condone piracy and won't help anyone play without a legitimate copy.
The launcher never changes game files, Steam settings or anti-cheat. While private mode is on, it routes the game's two backend addresses to your server; the moment you stop, close the game or close the launcher, that routing is removed.
Yes. The launcher has two buttons, Play private and Play official. Private servers keep their own profiles and progress, and nothing is written to your official account.
Steam on Windows PC. Console crossplay is out of scope. The server itself runs on Linux with Docker.
Squads of up to four Helldivers per mission. During the beta each server accepts up to 100 enlisted Steam accounts, invite-only.
Yes. The full project is on GitHub and you can run it yourself at no cost. Patreon supporters fund development. Patriot-tier supporters also get their own server deployed for them (HTTPS, multiplayer relay and console login handled for them), early access to future releases, and direct support from the developers.
You sign in with Patreon on the deploy page and we confirm you're an active Patriot-tier supporter. We only read your name, email, tier and pledge status. If you end your membership, your deployed server is shut down afterwards.
